Did you know that the average family uses about 40 gallons of water a day -- just for showering! That translates into 1.2 TRILLION gallons per year used for showering in the United States!
The traditional showerhead uses at least 2.5 gallons per minute, sometimes more for older models. The LOLS10在线直播下注 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends purchasing a showerhead with its WatersenseLOLS10在线直播下注 label. This label ensures that these products provide a satisfactory shower that is equal to or better than conventional showerheads on the market, using no more than 2.0 gallons per minute. EPA worked with a variety of stakeholders — including consumers who tested various showerheads — to develop criteria for water coverage and spray intensity. All products bearing the Watersense label must be independently certified to ensure they meet EPA water efficiency and performance criteria.
Water used for showering accounts for nearly 20% of your home's indoor water consumption. If every household in the United States installed WaterSense labeled showerheads, it would save more than $1.5 billion in water utility bills and about $2.5 billion per year in energy costs for heating water.
The PUD offers discounts of up to $7 on the purchase of Watersense showerheads like the ones pictured above (prices in store include the discount). See a list of participating retailers and products to the right under "Related Information."
